The Humans

Step 1: Joint the two 1x8 boards with eight mending plates. This will be the deck surface.

Step 2: Find the center of the deck and draw a line. Now draw two lines across the deck a ½" on either side of the center line.

Step 3: Cut two 14½" pieces of 2x2. Attach these pieces to the deck so that an edge is on the lines drawn in step 2. Use a clamp to hold the pieces in place while you attach them with 3 deck screws each through the deck and countersunk.

Step 4: Lay out the carpet face down. Place the deck on top of the carpet. Fold one end of the carpet over to the back of the deck and staple. Fold the other end of the carpet over the deck and staple.

Step 5: Attach the outside corner trim to the edge of the deck over the carpet with brad nails or screws.

Step 6: Cut the PVC pipe to the required sizes to make the base and assemble the base per the picture.
